Baltimore’s quaint neighborhoods are celebrated in the painted scenes of Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower resident artist Matt Fenton’s Impressions on Canvas. The exhibition demonstrates a constant striving for spontaneity and an impressionist’s sense of light achieved by working in plein air. Fenton depicts city neighborhoods along railroads and water including harbors, seashores, lakes and rivers, the countryside and cityscapes.

Matt Fenton has been painting and drawing since childhood, working in oil, watercolor and pastel paintings, favoring a realist style with an emphasis on impressionist brushwork. Fenton studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art, in addition to Mitchell School of Fine Arts, Baltimore County Adult Education, School 33 Art Center, Zoll School of Fine Art and Schuler School of Fine Arts. The Baltimore artist paints vivid landscapes, still life and portraits in his studio at the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower in Baltimore, Maryland.
